VERSION 1.26, 20th DECEMBER fixed link to DeviantEmoteBar homepage. embarassingly managed to send it to the DeviantCopyPaste homepage instead! (thx ~Dregnought for spotting that one) exclude CTRL+SHIFT 0-9 keyboard shortcut choices; seems these are already FF2 shortcuts for jumping directly to the tab at that index
VERSION 1.25, 11th DECEMBER link to open preferences panel now included in the emotebar menu preferences panel includes a "set prefs back to default" button statusbar icon in the bottom-left that acts as an emotebar toggle the long-awaited favourites capability! drag and drop any emote in any category onto the icon on the right of the emotebar; it is then immediately added to the "Favourites" category in the menu. to remove an emote from your favourites, just drag it onto the icon again. note, you can click on the icon to go straight to your favourites i was hoping to release the full v2.0 of this extension this weekend, but it's not ready yet. this will contain a few enhancements to the favourites system, and a huge new feature that allows you to make dynamic favourite lists!! (like "My Top 25 Most-used Emotes")
VERSION 1.01, 1st SEPTEMBER new firefox extension for deviantart: all of DA's emotes at your fingertips!
FEATURES drag & drop emoticons! drag an icon from the emotebar to a textfield and the correct code is pasted in for you! click-paste emoticons! if you are typing away you can just click the mouse on an emote and the correct emoticon code will be inserted at the cursor! quickly paste in multiple codes by just repeatedly clicking! incremental emote search! on the right-hand side of the emotebar is a small text field. typing here will search the code and description of all emotes as-you-type, showing matching results on the emotebar -- for example, try typing "ninja" show/hide with a quick keyboard shortcut! default is "CTRL+SHIFT E", but this is user-configurable in the prefs panel filter on emote size! by default, so the emotebar is not too large, only emoticons less than or equal to 24 pixels high are displayed. you can raise this all the way to 60 pixels high in the preferences panel!
MISCELLANEOUS this extension is multi-language enabled! currently it contains
english and german (thanks `moeffju!); more translations will follow
BROWSER COMPATIBILITY
currently compatible with the following browsers! firefox 1.5, 2.0 flock 0.7+ mozilla, seamonkey, and netscape support is planned
feedback & feature requests appreciated!
if you like it, have a browse round my gallery and leave a comment!

PLANNED FOR v2.00+ integration with firefox 2 sqlite storage API for creation of dynamic "emote playlists" simple to use GUI for creation of custom "emote playlists" PLANNED FOR v2.10+ seamonkey, mozilla, netscape support
third extension's the charm! i'm really happy the way this has turned out, from the itunes-playlist-style incremental search and the speed of it all... you'll never need the DA emote page again if it all works as smoothly as i hope
do let me know how it works for you and how you'd like it to progress! nice to make these things all they can be -- and with DA v5 starting to lay down the gauntlet with better functionality, i thought i needed to respond with something a bit special, heh
(if you want to see the larger emotes then there is a prefs option, and you can change the shortcut to toggle show/hide in the prefs panel too)
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6
Issues:
* When first installed,. It didn't show any emoicons on the bar. I closed the bar and tried to
* Press the default short cut key squence to reshow, but it didn't work. I changed the default short cut key squence in the prefs and restarted the browser. It worked.
* By the way, the default short key is not listed (!)
* Right-clicking on an emoicon throws a Chrome javascript error in console
* The bar sizes changes when I resize the mini-console of Firebug. The scroller arrows disappeare as well. See [link]
Suggestions:
* Search is a bit slow. You might want to try to optimize it.
* You might want to change the arrows to point left and right instead of up and down
oh, fantastic, thank you for that -- exactly what i needed!
have now fixed both of the "first install" problems (with emotes not showing and the shortcut not working). i've been working on it for so long i was forgot a test that checks to see if you haven't set your preferences yet. have released a 1.01 update which takes care of this, so everyone elses's first install will now go properly
the arrows pointing up/down instead of left/right is actually a known firefox bug with horizontally oriented arrowscrollboxes, i don't think there is anything i can do about it. i should check if they have fixed it in firefox 2...
surprised you find search slow -- it's lightning fast here, almost instantaneous in fact. as soon as my finger is off the key the results are available. perhaps it's slower on linux... either way i will look to see if i can speed it up some more!
FYI: there was a bug in the first version that meant you had to go to the prefs panel and press OK before emotes/shortcut would work, oops... only affeted the first 7 people to download though as i have released an update now!
